TitleWhy AP responds with 404 server error when accessing WebGUI after upgrade to WiNG 5.9?
Question
Why AP lost WebGUI reporting 404 server error after upgrade induced by centralized controller?
Environment
  • ExtremeWiNG Access Points
  • WirelessWiNG Acess Points
  • WiNG 5.9+ Software
Answer
Unlike previous WiNG versions, WiNG 5.9 introduces significant change in used access points upgrade images included in controller images.

Previous versions, like 5.8.6 below, used so-called LEAN image only for AP6532

However, to secure more resources for centrally managed APs this has been changed in 5.9.x where all firmware images present in a controller image is LEAN

To understand the difference, please read following article What is the difference between AP firmware LEAN image vs standard image?

Additional notes
If you want to load full image containing GUI component, you'll have to upload full image to adopting controller manually for every platform in question.
The process is roughly described in article How to upload Wing 5x AP firmware image to Wing controller
