Question
When enabling STP on an interface where the speed is set to 100, the following error is seen:

conf t

interface Te 1/0/1

speed 100

no spanning-tree shut

%%Error: Configuration not allowed when link speed set to 100Mbps

Similar error is seen when changing the speed on an STP-enabled interface to 100 Mbps:

interface Te 1/0/1

no spanning-tree shut

speed 100

%%Error: Configuration not allowed when link speed set to 100Mbps.

Answer
STP is not supported on 100Mbps interfaces on VDX.

100Mbps interfaces has limited Layer 2 support. Below are the commands which are not supported on 100 Mb interfaces:

1. "no spanning-tree shutdown"
2. "port-security and related commands"
3. "track enable" and related commands
4. "port-profile port" and related commands
5. "edge-loop-detection vlan 5501"
6. "mac-learning disable vlan add 50"
