TitleWhy am I getting the message "Maximum level of this license type is reached..." when trying to apply an AP license voucher?
Question
Why am I getting the following message when trying to apply an 8 port AP license voucher on your licensing portal?:

Maximum level of this license type is reached on the HW serial Number. You cannot apply this type of license on the HW
Environment
  • RFS6000 controller
  • WiNG 5.x
Answer
The RFS6000 controller will allow the following number of licensed ports to be activated:
  • AP: 48
  • AAP (Adaptive AP): 256
Run the following command to view the current status of your licensed ports:
>en
#Show Licenses
Serial Number : 140085204xxxxx

Device Licenses:
  AP-LICENSE
    String : c4ad5cb3d91abcdefabcdef5764c1ef32b480d743399dcc370c1caaaaaaaaaa
    Value : 48
  AAP-LICENSE
    String :
    Value : 0

Cluster Licenses:
  AP-LICENSE
    Value : 48
    Used : 48
  AAP-LICENSE
    Value : 0
    Used : 0

Cluster MAX AP Capacity:
  Value : 48
  Used : 48
In this case, all AP ports have already been enabled, hence the message you got when trying to apply another AP license voucher. If you are adopting anything other than the legacy AP300 APs, check the availability of AAP ports, if any are available then enable those. AAP licensed ports can be used to adopt all WiNG APs except the legacy AP300 APs.
