Question
Why did a VDX lose its running config and boot up with a default config after a downgrade from 6.0.2h to 6.0.2 with the "coldboot" option?
Environment
  • VDX6740
  • Logical chassis VCS
  • Coldboot downgrade from 6.0.2h to 6.0.2
  • No raslog messages about database corruption
Answer
The only possibility in this scenario is that "default-config enable" had been configured on the affected rbridge before downgrade. The "default-config enable" setting causes an rbridge to boot up with a default config after the next reload. The nature of the setting causes it to leave no trace of itself after that reload.
