TitleWhy do I receive the error "802.1Q Tag 100 is not from a member vlan"?
Question
When trying to enter the command "configure stpd stp1 tag 100", why do I receive the following error:

Error: 802.1Q Tag 100 is not from a member vlan
Configuration backup failed on MSM, command execution aborted!
Environment
  • EXOS
  • BlackDiamond
Answer
The VLAN with the tag mentioned must be added to the STP domain before the STP tag can be configured for that tag.

You can add the vlan to STP using this command:
configure stpd <stpd> add vlan <vlan-name> ports <ports> <stp-mode>

In case you have vlan v100 with tag 100 and you want to add that to s0 the comand would be:
configure s0 add vlan v100 ports 1 dot1d (or any other mode).
