Question
Why do I see  <Warn:HAL.IPv4Adj.Warning> MM-A: adj 0.0.0.0: # L3 hash table entries already 0 repeated in the log on BlackDiamond X8?
Environment
  • BlackDiamond
  • X8
  • EXOS version 15.3.4.6
Answer
EXOS will maintain a counter while adding/deleting entries into the L3 Hash table (used for storing unicast, multicast IPv4/IPv6 entries in hardware).  When the entries are cleared with clear fdb the counters are erroneously deducted.  However EXOS still tries to deduct the counter even though it has already reached 0.  This is a cosmetic issue as there is no network impact.

The log can be filtered to ignore these warnings with the following command:

configure log filter default add exclude event HAL.IPv4Adj.Warning

A manual failover can also clear the warnings with the following command:

run failover
