Additional notes
After the move of most of the Broadcom SDK code from the Linux kernel to user space, the HAL process is handling much more functions that used to be more distributed, so larger CPU utilization in HAL is expected.  This is especially true for the 48 port X440-G2, since it has to poll two packet processors to check link status and get counters.
