Why Chromecast is being blocked by a Wing AP?
  • All Summit WM3000 Series Controllers
  • ExtremeWiNG Controllers
  • WirelessWiNG Controllers
  • ExtremeWiNG Access Points
  • WirelessWiNG Acess Points
  • WiNG v5.X Software
Under following scenarios, Chromecast service may be blocked by a Wing Access Point.

1. "no client-client-communication" under WLAN profile using Chormecast. We recommend enabling "client-client-communication" under WLAN profile for Chromecast service to work correctly.

2. Avoid using "BROADCAST-MULTICAST-CONTROL" IP access-list under WLAN profile which blocks multicast traffic. If this IP access-list is in use, multicast traffic to chromecast server needs to be permitted along with additional udp ports used by chromecast setup (for example udp port 1900, 5353 etc).

3. Ensure to use Extreme recommended firewall policy.

What is the best practice firewall policy for WiNG devices and how to apply it?
