Information

TitleSNMPv3 Requests To Industrial Switches (ISW) Stop Working If NTP Is Enabled; usmStatsNotInTimeWindows
Symptoms
  • SNMPv3 requests stop receiving responses after NTP time sync occurs on the ISW switch.
  • Extreme Management Center can not discover or determine the status of the device via SNMPv3.
  • With NTP disabled SNMPv3 requests are responded to as expected.
Environment
  • Industrial Switch (ISW)
  • v01.01.02.0005
  • v01.01.02.0007
  • v1.1.2.5
Cause
Behavior is confirmed to be a bug and will be fixed in the release v01.01.02.0008.
Resolution

For software release v01.01.02.0005 and 0007, disable NTP and reboot the switch to enact the change.
Additional notes
ISW switches managed by Extreme Management Center using SNMPv3 are impacted by the defect noted above.

A tcpdump from XMC will show the following during a device (re-)discover, resulting in a usmStatsNotInTimeWindows response:
