Symptoms
  • High CPU condition noted on switch
  • Log message displayed to console and log file
CPU6 [11/08/16 11:26:03] HW INFO HIGH CPU condition detected at 11/08/16 11:26:02. Spy Task Trace Data has been collected for this event
  • Subsequent high CPU condition(s) occurring on switch results in error
CPU6 [11/08/16 11:26:03] COP-SW ERROR Error in opening file: /pcmcia/spyTaskTraceFile.txt !

 
Environment
  • ERS 8600/8800
  • Release 7.2.24.0
Cause
Software defect ERS8800-397
Resolution
  • Fixed in 7.2.25.0 release
  • Advisable to upgrade to latest/final release 7.2.26.0 due to life-cycle of product
Workaround:  Delete spyTaskTraceFile.txt from /pcmcia

On CLI based system
  1. Type remove /pcmcia/spyTaskTraceFile.txt
  2. Press y to confirm
ERS8600:5# remove /pcmcia/spyTaskTraceFile.txt
Are you sure (y/n) ? y
ERS8600:5#

On ACLI based system
  1. Type enable
  2. Type delete /pcmcia/spyTaskTraceFile.txt
  3. Press y to confirm
ERS8600:5>enable
ERS8600:5#delete /pcmcia/spyTaskTraceFile.txt
Are you sure (y/n) ? y
ERS8600:5#
