Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps are not sent out with configured snmp-server sender-ip

« Go Back

Information

TitleSimple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps are not sent out with configured snmp-server sender-ip
Symptoms
  • Traps are sent by the VSP but not with the configured source IP address
Environment
  • Virtual Switch Platform (VSP)
  • Software 7.1.0
Cause
  • The source IP (w.x.y.z) must be a Circuitless IP (CLIP) address.
  • If source IP address is either specified as 0.0.0.0 or is not a CLIP address, the source IP address is ignored and the switch automatically uses the IP address of the local interface that is closest (from an IP routing table perspective) to the destination SNMP server and the settings from this command are ignored.
Resolution
  • For out-of-band management use the CLIP address.
Additional notes
For steps on how to configure CLIP on VSP platform  Click here and go to section "Configuring a Circuitless IPv4 interface" starting on page 237
