Environment
  • VSP
  • Software version 5.1.1.5
Cause
  • A brief power glitch on the Avalanche chassis can result in the ESM PHY(s) on the card entering a wedged state
  • This is due to the loss of 1V power without the corresponding loss of 12V power
  • In this state the CPU complex programmable logic device (CPLD) stays up and the PHYs on the ESM are keep out of reset.
Resolution
Upgrade software to version 6.1.5

Additional notes
Added correct power cycling of ESMs on normal soft reset to recover from power glitches
