Symptoms
  • Switch running 7.3.0.223 release
  • 7.5.0.2 FW and 7.5.1 SW downloaded to switch using no-reset option
  • Switch has USB drive installed
  • Switch is rebooted from SSH session to complete upgrade
  • Console monitoring of show cpu-utilization indicates sustained 100% CPU utilization for 10 minutes before switch reboots
  • Config is lost when switch comes back online with 7.5.1 release
  • No config loss if switch is booted from console to complete upgrade
  • If switch is rebooted while on 7.5.1 release, partial config loss is also seen regardless of USB drive enabled/disabled
Environment
  • ERS 5900
  • Release 7.3.0.223 and 7.5.1.007
Cause
Software defect ERS495900-5201
Resolution
Upgrade to 7.6.2 release (current forecast date mid-February 2019, subject to change)
Additional notes
Workaround
  1. Ensure all SSH sessions are cleared
  2. Reboot from either telnet or console
