Environment
  • ERS 4900/5900
  • 7.6.0.007 release
Cause
  • Password security enabled (default setting)
  • When password security enabled, switch requires user to enter authentication and privacy pass-phrases instead of entering in clear text on single line
Resolution
  • Determine which password security setting is correct for the implementation and make sure both match (enabled or disabled)
  • Configure SNMP user based on password security setting
