Information

TitleExtremeControl NAC Appliance Status is Orange and Unlicensed In Access Control
Symptoms
  • Appliance indicator in Access Control is ORANGE.
  • Appliance status under details is Unlicensed.
  • Clicking the License button prompts that a subscription or enterprise license will be applied but nothing appears to happen.
  • The tag.log on the appliance shows the following:
ERROR [com.enterasys.tesNb.server.license.ApplianceLiceseManager] (http-10.225.198.49-8444-3:) virtual appliance license is invalid: Ivalid date format in license file.

Environment
  • Extreme Management Center (XMC, formerly NetSight)
  • Extreme Control (NAC)
  • All Software Releases
Cause
The date on either the Extreme Management Center or Extreme Control appliance are out of sync, in most cases the Extreme Control appliance is a date in the past.
Resolution
Ensure the host hypervisor date and time are set correctly if the virtual appliances obtain their clock from the host. Otherwise ensure that the host hypervisor or physical appliance date and times are synchronized using a centralized clock source from NTP.
