Information

TitleMAC addresses are not aging out in the specified time for the particular VLAN ID
Symptoms
ERS 5600 running SW v6.6.3 with MACSEC feature enabled may experience the problem when MAC addresses are not aging out in the specified time for VLAN ID. More often it may be seen in VLANs designed for WLAN (for example) where MACs are learned frequently, and MAC movements are happening due to wireless clients roaming.
Environment
  • ERS 5600
Cause
Software defect.
Resolution
End of Manufacturer Support date for software was 4th of May 2016. This problem has been found later and now is known as unresolved.

Workaround:
  • Perform software downgrade on previous 6.6.2 release that isn’t affected.
  • Disable MACSEC feature globally.
  • Replace the switch on any supported platform.
Additional notes
Extreme Networks or even Avaya is not legally permitted to distribute this code any longer. The best option short term would be to see if any other partners in the region kept a copy.
