Information

TitleExtremeControl: "Error Processing Certificate: No private keys could be found in any file. Possibly the key password is incorrect."
Symptoms
"Error Processing Certificate: No private keys could be found in any file. Possibly the key password is incorrect."
Environment
  • Extreme Management Center (XMC)
  • ExtremeControl (EAC)
  • NAC Manager
  • Appliance RADIUS Server
  • 802.1x authentication
  • RADIUS Server Certificate
  • All software versions
Cause
PKCS#7 (certificates with extension ".p7b") certificate format is not supported by ExtremeControl.
Resolution
  • XMC and NAC support PKCS#12, PKCS#8, and X.509 certificate formats.
  • Generate a new certificate in one of the supported formats above or configure NAC to proxy 802.1x authentication requests to a third-party RADIUS server.
Additional notes
Certificate generated by a Certificate Authority (CA) is only necessary if NAC deployment is configured for terminating 802.1x (EAP-TLS, PEAP or EAP-TTLS) authentication requests. If NAC deployment is configured as a Proxy RADIUS, then a certificate generated by a CA is not required.
