Symptoms
  • Onboarding template has been configured to allow self-provisioning users to specify their own password.
  • Users create a password with multiple successful $$ embedded.
  • The outbound email notification password string is stripped of one or more $ characters.
For password specify ABC$$123$a234
Outbound email is ABC$123$a234
Environment

  • Software Releases Prior to 8.3.0.

Cause
Software defect.
Resolution
This issue has been addressed in Guest & IoT Manager software releases 8.3.1 and 8.4.0.

There are no workarounds available in prior releases other than to inform users to not use successive $$ in user-specified passwords, or modify the onboarding template to generate a password for users.
