« Go Back

Information

TitleCPU spike during system uptime counter rollover.
Symptoms
Around the time when sysUptime counter rolls over (happens every ~ 497 days), a CPU spike is observed with tShell-cli task being the main offender.
Environment
  • VSP 4000
  • VSP 7200
  • VSP 8200/8400
  • All supported software releases prior to VOSS 6.1.4.0.
Cause
This is a known pattern, where sysUptime rollover triggers a CPU spike, with tShell-cli contributing most to the overall CPU utilization.
The issue was indirectly addressed in VOSS 6.1.4.0, by increasing the
sysUptime rollover interval to appox. 68 years.
Resolution
Upgrade to VOSS 6.1.4.0 release, or newer.
