« Go Back

Information

TitleVOSS : Intermittent traffic drops between DVR domain and Cisco ACI (External Router)
Symptoms
Intermittent traffic drops reported between Extreme DVR domain and Cisco ACI (External Router)
Environment
  • VOSS (DVR Module)
Cause
  • A DVR enabled VLAN was used in the transit path to route traffic between DVR and Cisco ACI (External Router)
Resolution
As per the design requirement DVR VLAN should not be used in the transit path to route between DVR and Cisco ACI (External Router). Its recommended to use a non-DVR VLAN (example VRRP or RSMLT VLAN).

On DVR Controller:

DVR enabled VLAN/ISIDs are for host connectivity only, you cannot connect a router to a DVR enabled VLAN/ISID and use dynamic nor static routing. Use a non-DVR VLAN/ISID instead to connect an external router.

On DVR Leaf:

DVR enabled VLAN/ISIDs are for host connectivity only, you cannot connect a router to a DVR enabled VLAN/ISID and use dynamic nor static routing. Use a non-DVR VLAN/ISID instead to connect an external router.

Additional notes
  • When you configure DVR on controllers or Leaf with VRRP vlan's ensure that there is no VRRP vlan with VRID 37 and VRID 38
  • VRID 37 MAC conflicts with DVR Gateway constant mac address 00:00:5e:00:01:25
  • VRID 38 MAC address conflicts with vIST MAC address of DVR 00:00:5e:00:01:26
  • If there is any VRRP VLAN exists with VRID 37 and 38, change the VRID to a different value
