« Go Back

Information

TitleUnable to assign multiple dynamic VLANs on one port
Symptoms

  • Multiple dynamic vlans on one port fail
  • Users get authenticated successfully from Radius server but can not be connected to the network
  • Error Message
11/01/2019 09:37:12.89 <Info:nl.ClientAuthFailure> Authentication failed for Network Login MAC user xxxxxxxx Mac AA:BB:CC:DD:EE port X
Environment
  • All Platforms
  • EXOS
  • Netlogin
  • Radius Server
  • Mac authentication dynamic vlan
Cause
The switch is configured to dynamically create VLANS after receiving an authentication response from a RADIUS server, however the supplicant’s physical port on the switch is not configured to allow more than one untagged VLAN.

Resolution
Enable Netlogin  on the supplicant’s physical port to allow more than one untagged VLAN

#configure netlogin ports <port number> mode mac-based-vlans

Additional notes
  • Netlogin should not be enabled on the uplink port and also the port where dynamic vlan is enabled should be in default vlan and untagged.
  • You must specify one or more ports as tagged uplink ports that are added to the dynamically created VLAN by using below's command
    #configure netlogin dynamic-vlan uplink-ports [port_list | none]
