TitleExtreme Management Center OneView Maps Topology Background Image Appears Compressed And Detail Is Lost
Symptoms
  • After you import a topology background image in Extreme Management Center the image appears compressed or details are lost.
  • After modifying the scale the image does not display as expected similar to its original format.
Environment
  • Extreme Management Center (XMC, formerly NetSight)
  • Maps
  • Topology Background Image
Cause
The image imported exceeds the maximum image size dimensions supported by default in XMC and are scaled down to the specified maximum; default 3000x2000.
Resolution
WARNING: Serious problems might occur if you incorrectly modify the system files described below using vi or by using another method. Please ensure the file(s) to be modified are backed up prior to any change. Modify files at your own risk.

Modify the NSJBoss.properties file to increase the maximum image size, OR break the larger image into multiple sections and create individual map groups accordingly.

To increase the maximum image size supported:
  1. cd /usr/local/Extreme_Networks/NetSight/appdata
  2. cp NSJBoss.properties NSJBoss.properties.original
  3. vi NSJBoss.properties
  4. Modify or add:
oneView.maxImageSize=3000x2000
.. to ..
oneView.maxImageSize=<your_image_file_dimensions>
  1. Save and restart XMC using "service nsserver restart".
Additional notes
NOTE: Increasing the oneView.maxImageSize value may cause stability issues.
