TitleSLPP disabled ports on both the VSP core switches connected to an edge stack
Symptoms
  • SLPP configured on the VSP core switches
  • SLPP packet-rx is configured on the SMLT ports to the edge stack
  • SLPP Rx-Threshold values are staggered on vIST peers so that secondary switch is set to larger number than primary
  • A device/cable is connected on the edge stack caused a loop
  • SLPP brings down ports on both the VSP core switches
Environment
  • All VOSS Platforms
  • All ERS stacks
  • EXOS platforms running version 30.2 and up
Cause
  • VSP switches functioning as configured
  • SLPP-Guard configuration is missing on the edge stack
Resolution
  • Configure 'SLPP Guard' on all the access ports as below and cascade down to further switches
    • ERS platform
      interface Ethernet ALL
      slpp-guard [port <portlist>][enable][timeout {0| <10-65535>}]
      exit
    • EXOS platform
      enable slpp guard ports [port_list | all]
      configure slpp guard [ports [port_list | all] recovery-timeout [seconds | none]
  • Make sure NOT to configure on the uplink ports towards the cores
