Information

TitleSLX 9240 Stuck at HOST login - Will not boot SLXOS
Symptoms
After a reload the SLX device boots to the HOST VM and fails to load SLXOS

Environment
  • SLXOS 9240
Cause
SLXVM not loading or missing
Resolution
Login to HOST VM and issue the following command:
root@HOST:~# virsh list
 Id    Name                           State
----------------------------------------------------
 1     SLXVM                          shut off

Attempt to start the VM with the following:

root@HOST:~# virsh start SLXVM

If the SLXVM does not start, first attempt a cold power cycle; Physically unplug the power cable, wait 30 seconds, and reconnect the device.  It has been found that this condition can be encountered if the "reload" command is used instead of "reload system" when performing a netinstall.

If the device returns to the same condition, or if you see the following error, process an RMA:

error: Failed to start domain SLXVM
error: internal error: qemu unexpectedly closed the monitor: 2020-01-20 10:06:55.909+0000: Domain id=2 is tainted: high-privileges
2020-01-20T10:06:55.923227Z qemu-system-x86_64: cannot set up guest memory 'pc.ram': Cannot allocate memory
