Information

TitlePassword expired when "enhancedsecure-mode" flag is enabled on VOSS platform
Symptoms
  • "enhancedsecure-mode" flag is enabled, whether in jitc or non-jitc sub-mode
  • Administrator receives the following log message on the console when trying to login
EXTREME NETWORKS VOSS COMMAND LINE INTERFACE

Login: admin
Password: ***************

All user accounts are being disabled, reboot and configure user accounts and set passwords.
Environment
  • VSP 4000/7200/8200/8400
  • All supported VOSS releases
Cause
  • This is due to the fact that the system clock has gone forward past account expiration times.
Resolution
  • Admin user cannot be enabled once disabled.
  • Admin user password can be reset via Lifecyle menu only, which requires a reboot and console access.
  • The procedure resets all CLI local login passwords and does not affect the switch configuration.
  • Please schedule a maintenance window and contact GTAC to perform the account reset procedure.

  • If an Emergency admin (privilege user) is enabled, then switch can still be accessed via privilege user.
  • Privilege user does not expire with the clock but can ONLY be accessed via console.
  • Operator, Security and Auditor level users can be enabled via Privilege user.
