Information

TitleSingle-homed server connected in IST cluster of VSP 7000s is not reachable from one VSP 9000 via i-sid meshed to a VSP 9000s IST pair
Symptoms
Server (or any device) is unable to ping the VSP 9000 (and vice-versa) that learns server MAC address via SPBm i-sid from VSP 7000 cluster member that does not have server directly connected. Key point is server or network device has a single link to cluster of VSP 7000s.

Environment
  • VSP 7000
Cause
This is a known software defect as VSP7000-837 and VSP9000-897.
Resolution
Software defect has been found on the VSP 7000 platform in phase ‘end-of-software-maintenance’. Because of that the latest Release Notes for the software release 10.4.6.005 doesn't include it as a known issue and no fix is available.

Workaround:
  • Not to use topology when both VSP 7000s are in a single cluster.
  • Hardware replacement on VSP 7200 or other available models.
