Resolution
  • Change MSTP edge port status to “True”
    4950GTS(config)#interface ethernet <port number>
    4950GTS(config-if)#spanning-tree mstp edge-port true
  • Setting edge-port to true, the port will no longer send or receive TCN packets, but if another port in that MSTI had an event, like link up/down then all edge ports will suffer a mac address clear
  • This is the expected results of MSTP
  • There are two possible solutions/best practice recommendations for this:

1)Disable STP on the uplink/trunk and set the other ports to edge-port true.
2)Disable STP learning on the edge ports.
