Symptoms
If hardware VSB is enabled on either :
  1. pre-S140 S-Series chassis blade assembly that includes SFP+ ports or
  2. S140/S180 assembly that includes an Option Module(s) with SFP+ ports,
a 1G SFP module present in one or more of the SFP+ ports prior to system initialization may fail to properly link up.
Environment
  • S-Series
  • 1G SFP installed in 10G SFP+ port
  • Hardware Bonding
  • SK8208-0808-F8
  • Firmware 8.42.01
  • Firmware 8.61.01
Cause
firmware bug introduced in firmware 8.42.01 and 8.61.01

If a SOV3208-0202 option module is installed on a SK8208-0808-F8 fabric module, and one or more of the 10G ports on the fabric module contain 1G SFPs, then link may not be properly established on the ports with SFPs following system initialization.  This problem can be worked around by removing and reinserting each such SFP.
Resolution
Upgrade to Firmware :

8.42.04
8.62.01

Workaround:

This problem can be worked around by removing and reinserting each such SFP module after the system has booted.
