Title802.1x authentication failure Logon failure (0xc000006d) with known good username and password

  • All 802.1x authentication failing with Logon failure (0xc000006d)

  • Known good usernames/password failing with Logon failure (0xc000006d)
Environment

Cause
EAC appliance does not have the correct trust secret from the domain controller. It's using the incorrect secret to hash passwords to be verified by active directory causing all passwords to be hashed incorrectly
Resolution
  1. SSH to EAC appliance
  2. Run the following command
    nacctl restart && tail -f /var/log/tag.log
  3. If you see the message "Joined Active Directory" the NAC is joined
  4. If you see an error message that EAC was unable to join the active directory investigate the error message displayed to determine root cause.
