Symptoms
l2vpn session are stuck in signaling state with ESRP VPLS redundancy enabled.
Environment
EXOS 15.6
VPLS
ESRP
Cause
If VPLS redundancy is enabled, then the pseudo-wire become up only between ESRP master's in domains.
The pseudo-wire between master and slave is in ready state.
If the pseudo-wire is ready, then we will not program the PWs in hardware.
If one transport lsp goes down, then we are changing the state of pseudo-wire to Signaling (No transport LSP) but we have another lsp to same peer.
The ESRP tracking is falling because of the change in pseudo-wire state and ESRP will enter into force slave mode as there is no active PWs.
If the pseudo-wire state continue to be in ready(have one more lsp to reach the peer) in ESRP Slave, then it become ESRP Master and the pseudo-wire become up between ESRP master in another domain.


 
Resolution
fix:
If the peer is ready due to some VPLS redundancy (like ESRP), we should first check for any other available lsp's to reach the peer.
