TitleAll fans rotating though output shows failed with zero RPM for all fans
Symptoms
  • Fans confirmed rotating/spinning as expected.
  • Temperature is reported to be in normal operating range, indicating that fans are working.
  • Fans have been reseated.
  • Logs provide fan messages and indication of RPM out of operating range.
  • Fan Trays are know working, and or, have been replaced.

Show fan output is as follows:

Cause
I2C environment could be failed in which switch controller cannot read fan modules.
Resolution
Confirm Controller Access Failure by running extended diagnostics. The following output will confirm controller failure:

Fan module test: controller access failure

Summary: Diagnostics Fail

If the above steps show diagnostics to have passed, or if diagnostics cannot be performed, please contact Extreme Networks GTAC for debug level troubleshooting.
