BGP routes remain in routing table even after the BGP peer they are learned from is down
Environment
  • BGP
  • Graceful restart
Cause
Graceful restart will allow routes to stay in the table until the stale timer expires. This allows for BGP process restarts without impacting traffic forwarding.
Resolution
Disable graceful restart if faster failover is desired.
