Environment
  • C5 SecureStack
  • All firmware versions
Cause
  • Message generated when new MAC address is learned on a port with logging turned up to level 7 application
  • Message seen in logging buffer and on syslog server:
<142>May 19 08:13:57 10.5.6.1-1 MACA[113998536]: maca_api.c(311) 15124765 %% Entry maca unknown callback for port 108 mac 01aa0b9b469 vlan 56
Resolution
  • Reduce logging level to no higher than 6
  • If same MAC is constantly learned on same or multiple ports, possible loop or Spanning Tree issue
  • MAC Addresses can also be re-learned with roaming wireless clients, packet reflection, or potential physical layer issues such as seeing CRC errors on a port causing link flap
