Information

TitleChromebooks have slow performance on AP3710 when classroom users are all sending traffic
Symptoms
  • Slow connection to the SSID Chromebook users increase to approximately 15 or more and all are sending traffic. It is not necessarily dependent on the amount of traffic as long as the clients are active and sending power save packets.
  • Slow response time to web pages.
  • When Chromebooks are running with power adapters connected, they perform well.
Environment
  • ExtremeWireless
  • WS-AP3710, WS-AP37xx
  • All Controllers
  • Version 9.21.x
  • Version 10.11.04 and older
  • Chromebooks are powered by battery only.
  • This may possibly be seen on WS-AP3825 on the 2.4ghz Radio 2.
Cause
The root cause of this issue is that aggregation functionality is not correctly handling power save packets correctly.
Resolution
  • Fixed in 09.21.15 firmware
  • Fixed in 10.11.05 firmware
  • Workaround is to use power adapters with the Chromebooks
