Information

TitleClient Balancing Load Group is not fully created between AP3710 and AP3825, AP3935.
Symptoms
  • Client Balancing Load Group is not fully created between AP3710 and AP3825, AP3935.
  • Access Points are not responding to IGMP Group Join messages if the queries are not from the same subnet.
Environment
  • ExtremeWireless appliance C-5210.
  • ExtremeWireless Access Points AP3710, AP3825, AP3935.
  • Firmware 10.41.02.0014.
    • This issue can actually happen on all firmware versions.
Cause
The IGMP querier needs to be established on the same VLAN subnet as the Access Points for the APs to respond and accept the IGMP Group Join messages.
Resolution
Changing the IP Querier address from 1.1.1.1 to an IP within the AP Management VLAN subnet resolved the issue, and the Load Group report showed all APs in one group.
Additional notes
Further enhancements made in firmware 10.51.04
Release Note: wns0021218 - Enforced that AP391x generate IGMP JOIN when configured for SIAPP (Multicast) dependent functions such as Site and Load balancing
