TitleClients are failing the roam in a Mobility Domain between a firmware version 9 and firmware version 10 Availability pair.
Symptoms
  • Clients are failing the roam between a firmware version 9 and firmware version 10 Availability pair.
  • The Availability Pairs are in a Mobility Domain.
  • The Topology is Bridged at Access Point (Bridged at Controller works).
  • Clients will not fail the roam if they start in the firmware version 10 Availability Pair and move to the firmware version 9 Pair.
Environment
  • ExtremeWireless virtual and hardware appliances
  • All Access Points
  • firmware versions 9.21.xx, 10.11.xx, 10.21.xx, and 10.31.03 and lower.
Cause
  • Introduced in 10.11.xx, the format of multicast filter sent to a 10.11.xx Access Point was changed to conform to the same format as used for unicast filters.
  • Foreign appliance running v10.11.xx needs to translate this into the new format.When an appliance running v9.21.xx sends the multicast filters in the old format, the 
  • This was not done and so the new AP was receiving the multicast filter in the old format which was rejected and left the filters undefined.
Resolution
Please upgrade to 10.31.04.
