TitleController C5210 Moving into failover mode
Symptoms
ExtremeWireless appliances moving into a failover mode, logs review shows excessive ARP entries and updates.
Environment
  • ExtremeWireless appliance WS-C5210.
  • Firmware 10.31.10.
Cause
Initial review showed possible network timing issues, but a deeper review and a look at the Filter database tables showed that at certain times, the ARP tables were getting overrun.
  • kernel: Dynamic ARP entries exceed the MAX limit: 4096
  • kernel:  ix_cc_ipv4_add_direct_host 725  Failed to add l2 entry l2index: 0x7c34, nhIP: 0xaa7df95, vlan: 182
  • kernel: doublecheck_and_clean_released_l2index: L2entry with index 0x7c34 still exist while its index released. Correct it automatically.
Resolution
Please upgrade the ExtremeWireless appliance to 10.41.13 or higher.
