Information

TitleController shows AP(s) down even though they are operational and servicing users
Symptoms
Controller shows AP(s) down even though they are operational and servicing users
Environment
  • Identifi
  • All firmware
  • 3+ Extreme Wireless Controllers
Cause
APs were at one point bound to a controller pair. Months later, network configuration changes had taken place, and the APs were now discovered and approved on the 3rd controller (which is not in the availability pair). The APs were never given a name or description on the new controller, giving the illusion the APs were down on the old controller pair.
Resolution
  • Delete the AP entries off of the controller that the APs is no longer active on
  • Verify / correct your DHCP / DNS discovery method configurations
Additional notes
This is a very rare scenario and should not have high priority on the troubleshooting checklist
