« Go Back

Information

TitleDFE: Core dump files written while upgrading from 6.12.xx to 07.62.xx
Symptoms
  • Upgrade from Firmware 6.xx to post 7.11.xx
  • Core files appear to be written at the time of upgrade
  • Files are in slotx/cores directory with the date and time of upgrade
  • There is no corresponding crash in the faultlog
Environment
  • N-Series
  • Firmware 7.11.xx and higher
Cause
Version 7.11.01.0025 and subsequent versions utilize a new internal "binary" format for storing configurations. In addition, some of the CLI command structure has changed. Core files are now stored in folders and the date in the name of old core files on the system may be rewritten to the date of upgrade.
Resolution
  1. No action necessary. These core files can be ignored as they are not current despite the time stamp.
  2. Core files cannot be viewed so if this needs to be verified it can be sent to GTAC for the core to be verified
