Diagnostics failed for MSMs when the test is done in both the master and the backup MSMs simulataneously

« Go Back

Information

TitleDiagnostics failed for MSMs when the test is done in both the master and the backup MSMs simulataneously
Symptoms
Ping test failure happens during diagnostics when the test is performed in both the MSM A and MSM B simulataneously.

MSM-A: MSM-48c
Last Test Date: Tue Aug 23 04:07:48 2016
Ping test failed
Last Test Version: 16.1.3.6
Summary: Diagnostics Fail

MSM-B: MSM-48c
Last Test Date: Tue Aug 23 04:08:18 2016
Ping test failed
Last Test Version: 16.1.3.6
Summary: Diagnostics Fail

Environment
Blackdiamond Series
Exos All
Cause
The cause of this issue is that the ping test is perfomed to the alternate MSM when the diagnostics test is run.
If the other MSM is not available during the test, the diagnostics result show it as failed. This is possible when we run the diagnostics on both MSM A and MSM B at the same time.

The CR
xos0065366 is created to fix this issue permanently
Resolution
The fix for the CR is scoped to be fixed in the next patch of 16.2.2.2(Mostly by end of the Feb  2017).
Please refer the release notes of a version to confirm if the fix is available or not.

The work-around is not to run the diagnostics on both MSM A and MSM B at the same time.
