TitleERS 4000/5000: Your account is locked. Please contact your System Administrator
Symptoms
  • System responds with "Your account is locked. Please contact your System Administrator" when attempting to telnet, ssh or log in via console.
  • Users are locked out of switch after 90 day even when Password Security feature is disabled.


 

Environment
Ethernet Routing Switch 4800 running software version prior to 5.9.2.0.
Ethernet Routing Switch 4900 running any software version prior to 7.3.0.0.
Ethernet Routing Switch 5900 running any software version prior to 7.3.0.0.
Cause
Issue is due to a software defect.
Resolution
  • For the ERS 4800, issue is resolved in software version 5.9.2.0 and above.
  • For the ERS 4900 and ERS 5900, issue is resolved in software version 7.3.0.241 and above.

Workarounds
Option 1: Regain access using a backdoor password. Contact technical support to obtain a backdoor password. Default the Read Only and Read Write user profiles. Recreate the default Read Only and Read Write user profiles.
Option 2: Upgrade the software via the diagnostic menu.

Additional notes

1) Reboot the switch

2) Default the user name and password from engineering mode.

Note: Defaulting the password from engineering menu require additional information, contact support for further assistance.

 username  Set the aging-time for a specified user

Even if the password security is disabled in ERS 4800/4900/5900, the issue can manifest based on the password aging timer configured on the switch this value varies from 1-365 days for the switch running version 5.8.0.x for ERS 4800 and 7.0.0.x for ERS 4900/5900.
