Information

TitleEXOS Port(s) Stops Delivering PoE and Shows Error
Symptoms
"<Erro:POE.port_fault> Slot-1: Port 1:19 has encountered a fault condition"
Environment
  • Summit X450e-48p
  • Summit X440-48p
  • Summit Stack
  • EXOS version 12.6.2.10-patch1-10
  • EXOS version 15.2.1.5
Cause
There are multiple possible causes.

Case 1. On all PoE devices, a port enters a fault state because of class violation or if the operator limit is set lower than the amount requested.
Case 2. There's a short on the connection, causing POE to not work.
Resolution
Case 1: The operator limit configuration will need to be removed, with the following command:

unconfigure inline-power operator-limit port <port>
disable inline-power ports <port>
enable inline-power ports <port>

Case 2:
show inline-power stat port 1

The InvSig (Invalid Signature) incrementing indicates a possible failed powered device. Replace the powered device and monitor from there.

Additional notes
  • The port should then stop generating fault conditions
  • See concepts guide chapter titled PoE and search "Port Disconnect of Fault"
