Information

TitleEXOS switch fails to fetch the table values using snmp OIDs with error NO_SUCH_OBJECT_EXCEPTION
Symptoms
The device returns NO_SUCH_OBJECT_EXCEPTION message while polling the device with snmp get request.

X870-96x-8c.2 # show snmp get 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.11.1
extremeRtStats.1 = NO_SUCH_OBJECT_EXCEPTION

Environment
  • All EXOS switches
  • All EXOS versions
Cause
  • SNMP get can't be done for table value.
  • It could be done for any particular entry present in the table.
Resolution
Only snmp getnext, getbulk or walk can be done on table. To do snmp get on particular entry we need to use the specific information related to the module present in table.

For example, extremeRtStatsIntervalStart (OID = 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.11.1.1.2) gives timetick value for all the ports on switch, so we can’t do snmpget on extremeRtStatsIntervalStart (OID = 1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.11.1.1.2), but we can do snmp getnext, getbulk or walk, on this OID. If we specifically want to do snmpget on “extremeRtStatsIntervalStar” for any interface, then we should give full OID including interface (i.e. OID =  1.3.6.1.4.1.1916.1.11.1.1.2.1 where highlighted “1” is port 1 on switch).
