Information

TitleExtreme Access Control not identifying device types
Symptoms
Extreme Access Control not displaying information for "Device Family" or "Device Type"
Environment
  • Extreme Access Control
  • Extreme Management Center
Cause
Extreme Access Control is not receiving DHCP requests
Resolution
Most recommended solution:
  1. Configure bootp relay on the VLAN interface of the end systems network to point to the EAC appliance in addition to the DHCP server
Other solutions if no L3 interface or bootp relay can be configured:
  1. Extend the clients VLAN into the EAC's DHCP spoofing interface. (By default eth0, but other interfaces can be enabled for traffic snooping)
  2. Deploy policy mirror to mirror UDP port 67 and UDP port 68 into the NAC appliances DHCP snooping interface
