Environment
  • Extreme Management Center 8.0
  • Extreme Access Control
  • NAC
Cause
A single default rw snmp credential in the appliance configuration is causing a null list to be created. Null list is then causing null pointer exception during EAC startup
Resolution
  1. SSH to the NAC appliance
  2. Delete the /opt/nac/server/config/ApplianceConfiguration.xml from the NAC appliance
    rm /opt/nac/server/config/ApplianceConfiguration.xml
  3. Issue the command:
    nacreinitializedb
    Press "y"
  4. Reenter Web Crednetials by issueing the command:
    configWebCredentials <username> <password>
The <username> and <password> fields are defined in your system in NAC Manager  Tools menu --> Management and configuration --> Advanced Configuration ---> Global and appliance settings --> Appliance Settings --> <Appliance settings in use> --> Credentials. Unhide the middle "Web Service Credentials" window to see what the password is.
  5. Issue the following command:
nacctl restart
  1. When the NAC appliances comes back green re-enforce the appliance
