Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt

Other Symptoms seen in the controller logs: 
smt: Watchdog Reboot Status: 0x5a
smt: A Reboot Occurred.  Cause: Hardware Watchdog Timeout or Hardware Reset Button.
smt: System Status notify sent to component [8][Host Services Manager]




 
Environment

  • Firmware 10.31.06, 10.31.07, 10.31.08, 10.41.02, 10.41.03
  • v2110
  • c5210
  • Watchdog
  • Hostname rule defined eg (facebook.com)
Cause
Firmware bug caused by malformed DNS packet
Resolution
Workaround:
  • Remove all hostname type policy roles.
Resolution:
  • Upgrade to 10.41.05 or higher

 
Additional notes
Release Note: wns0019920 - Addressed handling of mal-formed DNS packets by adding more protection when decoding DNS replies.
