Symptoms
Receiving error "% Invalid input detected at '^'" when trying to apply advanced routing license key as follows:
C5(su)->set license advrouter a0001:C5L3-LIC:8:xxxxxxxx:0:company name:0:00000000:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx==
                                                                  ^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

Environment
  • C5-Securestack
  • All firmware versions
  • Applying advanced routing license
Cause
If there is a space in the license the key it must be contained within double quotes
Resolution
Type the license command with quotes are at the beginning and end of the key as follows:
C5(su)->set license advrouter "a0001:C5L3-LIC:8:xxxxxxxx:0:company name:0:00000000:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx=="
Validating license on unit 1
License successfully validated and set on unit 1
C5(su)->
