Symptoms
User migrated config from VRRP-E to VRRP and Microsoft Network Load Balancing Stopped Working.
Unable to make Microsoft Load balancers work using NLB Multicast Mode after migrating from VRRP-E to VRRP.

Environment
Software Release: NI 05.4.00
Fixed in Version: N/A
Cause
Issue resolved with static ARP and mac-address configurations. This is a known issue with Microsoft load balancer.
It uses same MAC Address for many IP addresses in the ARP entry. Also it responds using the Virtual MAC address.
Resolution
Add a static ARP entry for the Microsoft Load Balancers (NLB) solution on the MLXes/CERs.
Add a static ARP MAC for the Microsoft Load Balancers (NLB) solution on the MLXes/CERs.
Add a static MAC entry for the Microsoft Load Balancers (NLB) solution on the VDXs.

Use the multicast mac address and VIP of the Microsoft NLB Object and add it to the Brocade Layer 3 Routers (Brocade Layer 3 MLX/CER Routers).

To create a static ARP entry on the MLXs/CERs enter a command such as the following:

Brocade-MLX-1(config)# arp 10.251.252.95 02bf.0afb.fc61
Brocade-MLX-1(config)#vlan 252
Brocade-MLX-1(config-vlan-252)# static-mac-address 02bf.0afb.fc61 eth 3/3

Brocade-MLX-2(config)# arp 10.251.252.95 02bf.0afb.fc61
Brocade-MLX-2(config)# vlan 252
Brocade-MLX-2(config-vlan-252)# static-mac-address 02bf.0afb.fc61 eth 3/3




To create a static MAC entry on the VDXs, enter a command such as the following:

VDX-11#(config)# mac-address-table static 02bf.0afb.fc61 forward tengigabitethernet 11/0/3 vlan 252
VDX-12#(config)# mac-address-table static 02bf.0afb.fc61 forward tengigabitethernet 12/0/3 vlan 252





The command adds a static MAC entry that maps MAC address 02bf.0afb.fc61 to interface 11/0/3 in VLAN 252 and interface 12/0/3 in VLAN 252.

The entry in this case would be for the multicast MAC address of the Microsoft NLB VIP connected to the VCS fabric.
