How to resolve Network Advisor Error: This Java instance does not support a 64-bit JVM. Please install the desired version.
During Network Advisor licensedversion 12.3.0 and higher during a fresh install or migration, usermay see:
Error: This Java instance does not support a 64-bit JVM. Please install the desired version
This error may occur when the user is performing a fresh 12.3.0 or higher Network Advisor32 bit versionor migrating from a 64 bit versionto32 bit version.
Software Release: Network Advisor12.3.0 and higher Fixed in Version: N/A
There are two scenarios where this error is likely seen.
Scenario 1: Error seen when user is performing aLinux Network Advisorfresh installation or migration.The userexecutesthe/Linux/install.sh script instead of /Linux64/install.sh causing theNetwork Advisor32 bit install script to run and error message will be seen.
Scenario 2: Error seen when user is performing aWindowsNetwork Advisormigration to version 12.3.0 or higher from a previously installed 32 bit Network Advisor version that is lower than 12.3.0.
Resolution per scenario are as follows:
Scenario 1: The error indicates the customer is attempting to install the 32 bit version of Network Advisorfrom the /Linux install folder instead of the 64 bit version /Linux64 folder. Suggest customer to install from /linux64 folder.
NOTE: Starting with Linux Network Advisor 14.0.x the/Linux folder is removed andonly /Linux64 folder is available for user install.
Scenario 2: The user will need to migrate its current 32 bit Network Advisorversion to 64 bit version following the server to server same version migration procedure as follows: 1. Take a Network Advisor backup of the 32 bit version andsave it to a secure location outside of the Network Advisor install folder. 2. Perform a full un-install of the 32 bit Network Advisor version. 3.Perform a full install of the 64 bit Network Advisor version. 4. Restore the Network Advisor 32 bit version backup to the newly installed Network Advisor 64 bit version. 5. Verify all features and functions of Network Advisor is working properly. 6. Migrate to the next 64 bit version of Network Advisor as suggested by the release notes.
