IdentiFi Appliance management GUI will not start or load

« Go Back

Information

TitleIdentiFi Appliance management GUI will not start or load
Symptoms
  • Wireless Controller Web Interface Not Responding
  • When I open a web browser to the controller GUI I'm not getting the login page
  • SSH to the controller and tried to restart Apache Server (/usr/sbin/Apachectl start) but got an error: SSLCertificateFile: file "/var/controller/certs/<IP address of L3 topology>.crt " does not exist or is empty.
Environment
  • IdentiFi
  • Any Wireless Appliance
  • Firmware Version 8.0.x. 9.0.x, 9.15.x or higher
  • Certificates
Cause
The certificate for a specified topology is missing, this causes the Apache services not to start.
Resolution
To get the Apache service to re-start (creating a self-signed cert):
  1. SSH to the suspect controller
  2. login via "shell" (contact GTAC if you need assistance)
  3. Enter the command cd /var/controller/certs
  4. Enter the command openssl genrsa -out 10_1_1_1_key.pem ##Where the 10_1_1_1 is, use the same format with your L3 topology IP on the controller
  5. Enter the command openssl req -new -x509 -key 10_1_1_1_key.pem -out 10_1_1_1.pem ##Where the 10_1_1_1 is, use the same format with your L3 topology IP on the controller
  6. Enter the command httpd -k restart ##This will restart the httpd processes on the controller
  7. Log back into the management GUI of the controller
Remove the new self-signed cert by adding a valid one.
